Levi has been shooting for 37 years, since he was 6. He grew up in a homestead family and shooting was part of survival. Many uncles and a few aunts are hunters. He first participated in organized shooting sports in Junior High School with the Tanana Middle School Rifle team, earning the equivalent of Distinguished Expert in 4 Position Small Bore Rifle in 1986. High school saw competition in leagues and preparation for college. In college, at Oregon State University and the University of Oregon, Levi switched from rifle to pistol competition and found he greatly enjoyed the pistol. He competed in Oregon, Washington, California and Idaho as part of the Western States Conference, winning or placing in many events. On his 21st birthday he purchased a Glock 17 9mm pistol and developed a penchant for defensive handgunning.
He has been a frequent competitor in IDPA (International Defensive Pistol Association), USPSA (US Practical Shooting Association), IPSC (International Practical Shooters Confederation), and law enforcement sponsored shoots and was the 2006 Pistol Champion for the Alaska Peace Officers Association (APOA), of which he has been a Supporting member.
Levi is also an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer (RSO) and volunteers his time at the Rabbit Creek Shooting Park whenever he is able. He also holds Certification as a Handgun, Rifle, Shotgun and Home Safety Instructor with the NRA as well. He has a certification as a Shotgun and Sporting Clays Coach through Alaska Department of Fish and Game. He is honored to be a Distinguished Graduate and Ambassador for the Front Sight Firearms Training Institute.
He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Oregon with a BS in Psychology and lives in Anchorage with his wife Annie, a music teacher with the Anchorage School District, and twin sons Cameron and Sawyer. He is owner of Apogee Studios, Thermal Blade Alaska, Shoot-to-Live and H.I.T.S. in Anchorage, Alaska. He has a long history of providing exceptional firearms training for individuals and corporations throughout the US.
He enjoys shooting, archery, photography, computer programming, singing, acting, roller skating, downhill skiing, riding motorcycles and being with his wife, twin boys and awesome dog.
