Point Blank Firearms & Self-Defense Training was founded with one clear mission: to empower individuals with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to protect themselves and others.
Firearms training originally began in 2012 under the Alaska Investigation Agency, where Donna Anthony offered courses as part of her investigative services. Recognizing a growing need for specialized civilian and professional training, Donna sold the investigation agency and launched Point Blank Firearms & Self-Defense Training in 2014 as a standalone business focused entirely on education, empowerment, and preparedness.
With over 25 years of law enforcement experience—including undercover work with DEA task forces and coordination with U.S. Marshals, Homeland Security, Naval Intelligence, and the FBI—Donna built Point Blank with a foundation of real-world experience, professionalism, and passion for training.
From humble beginnings to becoming one of Alaska’s premier training centers, Point Blank has steadily grown, offering a wide range of courses including: • Concealed carry certification • Home protection • Women’s-only self-defense • Active shooter response • Force-on-force reality-based training • Tribal police training support • And more
In 2024, Point Blank moved into a brand-new, state-of-the-art facility featuring Alaska’s first shoot house dedicated to civilian-based training—an unmatched space designed for realistic, scenario-based learning. The new facility also includes a shooting simulator, retail gun store, and Krav Maga training center.
With the new location came exciting partnerships: • WEKA Tactical, owned by Todd Hering, who is currently active in law enforcement • Sheepdog Krav Maga, owned by Tony Adlesperger, who is also currently active in law enforcement
This collaboration brings a powerhouse team of professionals to our community, combining firearms training, tactical gear, and self-defense instruction under one roof.
Point Blank is built on strong leadership and an exceptional team, including: • LD Howard, General Manager • Barry Yancosek, Operations Manager • Dr. Cheri Ruiz, Office Manager – 30-year retired military VA veteran • Cierra Marr, Marketing Manager – Holds a Master’s degree and leads our outreach and branding strategy • Edie Grunwald, Events Coordinator – Retired military Colonel • And a phenomenal roster of USCCA certified instructors from military and professional training backgrounds
We are here to educate and train civilians, while also continuing to work with law enforcement and federal agencies throughout Alaska and beyond. Together, we are committed to equipping individuals and organizations with the skills, tools, and mindset needed to stay safe and protect what matters most.
