Val is a transplant from south Florida and has been in Alaska for 8 years. She fell in love with the state when she first moved to the great North and went on a 30 day back country backpacking trip through the Talkeetna Mountain range, traversing 150 miles of nothing but beautiful country. She has been shooting firearms for over 10 years. She first began her journey shooting skeet, trap and five –stand at a local shooting club and quickly fell in love with the sport (there’s nothing like the smell of gunpowder!). She also enjoys shooting handgun and rifle.
She has prior law enforcement experience as a reserve officer and has received training in tactical pistol and shotgun, defensive tactics, active shooter response, crisis intervention and other law enforcement related training at the Department of Public Safety in Sitka, AK. In addition, she has also received training through the NRA and Front Sight Firearms Training Institute in Nevada. Additionally, she holds a CPR/First Aid certification.
Val is a member of the Well Armed Woman, Matanuska Chapter, and enjoys training in Israeli Krav Maga and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. She enjoys being able to share her love and passion for firearms with students as well as give the gift of security, confidence and self-defense to others.
You will never find Val without a smile on her face.
